The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Hills are world-renowned for their celebrated Prosecco Valdobbiadene, but this enchanting territory offers much more.
Thanks to the mentoring program organized by the University of Trento, Davide Pedrolli, founder of Dolomita, met Caterina Fava, a young and passionate promoter of local tourism. Their collaboration has led to a mentoring relationship rich in opportunities and sharing of ideas.
Caterina Fava has an innate passion for promoting sustainable tourism in Veneto. During her studies in Economics and Management of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Sustainability and Tourism Management at the University of Trento, she founded Trekkyo, an initiative aimed at narrating and enhancing her homeland: the area between the Treviso-Belluno Prealps and the Piave River, nestled within the urban triangle of Conegliano, Valdobbiadene, and Vittorio Veneto.
With her certification as an AIGAE Hiking Guide, Caterina organizes excursions and experiential moments in collaboration with local small businesses, offering visitors the chance to explore the natural and cultural beauties of the region. Her goal is to give her area, famous for Prosecco, a different connotation by highlighting the typical products, nature, and local traditions.
The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offer a unique and captivating landscape. The “hogback” or mule-back shape of the hills creates a breathtaking panorama, with rows of vines following the natural contours of the terrain.
This territory is not only famous for Prosecco Valdobbiadene but also for its variety of natural environments: the Treviso-Belluno Prealps, the Piave River, and the Revine Lakes. Among the must-visit natural areas are the Caglieron Caves, the splendid Fontane Bianche Oasis, and numerous trails that follow ancient mills using the waters of the many streams in the area, such as the Vie dell’Acqua or the Filadora.
In addition, the cultural heritage includes the Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria in Follina dating back to the 11th century, the Pieve of San Pietro di Feletto, and the Credazzo Towers. Not to miss the historic center of Serravalle in Vittorio Veneto with its Renaissance buildings and the evocative Via XX Settembre in Conegliano, as well as Follina and Cison di Valmarino, among the “Borghi più belli d’Italia” along with Rolle, the first village protected by FAI in Italy. The territory also features castles, a testament to the many peoples and noble families who have ruled these lands: Castelbrando, the castles of Collalto and Susegana, the Castrum of Serravalle, and the castle of Conegliano.
Trekkyo offers a wide range of activities to explore the territory slowly, experiencing it from a new perspective and discovering its most authentic aspects.
Guided hikes include convivial moments at mountain huts, refuges, and wineries to experience the territory fully, starting from the small local realities that embody its vocation. Collaborations with local experts deepen knowledge of natural or astronomical aspects.
Caterina collaborates with Rive and More to organize unique experiences such as the “CartizzeSlowExperience” to experience this product—the only Grand Cru in Italy, harvested in an area of just 108 hectares—by knowing and exploring its area of origin, or “Walking in the Moonlight,” emotional sunset hikes with dinner in a refuge and stargazing with the Astronomical Society of Vittorio Veneto.
During the tours, visitors have the opportunity to meet some of the most renowned producers in the area: not only winemakers but also small local producers who continue to promote the traditions and specialities of the territory.
For example, Fattoria Curto in the Treviso-Belluno Prealps is famous for its cheeses and grazing on Monte Cesen. Oliveto Riva Jacur, awarded the Gambero Rosso’s three leaves, produces top-quality olive oil. Malibran Vini offers the traditional “Col Fondo” wine, and Venetian Gin provides gin with botanicals from the Dolomites and Piave River. The Combai IGP Chestnut and “Fasol de Lago” are celebrated local products.
Among the baked goods, the bread from Madamodorè, made with local flours, and the Buzholà biscuit, with its Venetian origin, offer authentic and traditional flavors. Other specialties of the territory include the spit-roasted meat dish accompanied by white pearl cornmeal and the typical tiramisu.
Exploring the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Hills means discovering a world beyond Prosecco Valdobbiadene, with unique experiences and typical products that tell the story and culture of the territory.
Dolomita is always at the forefront of supporting activities related to the territory, creating new collaborations with young people like Caterina, who share the goal of enhancing and promoting local excellences. Thanks to these initiatives, another piece of our Italy reveals itself in all its beauty and authenticity, offering visitors an unforgettable journey through nature, culture, and flavors.
